There are many reasons why some people fail to get their driver's license. It's actually an easy test if you take the time to prepare for it. Most of the mistakes people make are something that they could have easily avoided. It's all common sense.
Instead of worrying about your upcoming test, spend your time preparing for it and getting practice in. Worrying is a waste of time. Just remind yourself that the worst thing that can happen is that you make a mistake or two too many and fail. It doesn't have to be that big of a deal. You can simply learn from your mistakes and remember not to make them next time.
Here are some of the common mistakes that cause student drivers to fail.
· Make sure that you never, ever do rolling stops. Many student drivers think that it's okay to simply slow down. This isn't the case. Whether you are coming to a stop sign or red light, you must come to a complete stop.
· You must be able to demonstrate that you are confident with handling the wheel. Always use both hands. Never grip too roughly. Don't hold it too lightly. Both hands should be wrapped around the steering wheel firmly in the correct positions. Jerking the wheel will cost you some points - maybe even enough to fail you.
· Another mistake that will cause you to fail is improper lane changing. Make it a habit to signal your intentions - even when you're the only vehicle on the road. Also, remember to first look and check your blind spot before changing lanes. Check the traffic in front of you and keep your speed up.
· Never brake hard. It just takes a bit of pressure on the brake to slow down and stop. The ONLY time that hard braking is acceptable is in an emergency situation. Most of the time, there is no reason to do it or excuse for it.
· Never lose track of your speed. Always know what your speed is and whether or not you should slow down or speed up. You can lose points for going too slow or too fast. You'll need to learn how to judge road conditions and weather conditions so that you'll know what a safe speed should be. If you're driving on a wet or icy road, it's acceptable to go slower than the posted speed limit.
Keep all of these pointers in mind and avoid making these mistakes. While you're undoubtedly make a mistake or two, you can decrease your chances of making too many of them as long as you get plenty of practice and use common sense.
